Holy Cross Monastery was founded in 1650 on a hill on the banks of the river Vorskla. It was built on the initiative of the Poltava Colonel Martin Pushkar. In addition to Martin's major contributors at the base of the monastery were Cossack army sergeant and the other inhabitants of Poltava. The Cross Cathedral monastery was consecrated February 11, 1756.
Among the buildings of the monastery there are the Cross Cathedral, Bell Tower and Trinity Church. Holy Cross Cathedral is one of the best examples of Ukrainian Baroque style, which survived until our days. According to the principle of constructing a form of the cathedral a little stretched and Phillips-head. It does not have the main facade, its three sides are equal in terms of architecture. The interior of the church created in the second half of XVIII century.
Bell Tower of Holy Cross Monastery was built in 1786 near the height of 45 meters. His magnificent view of this bell tower resembles the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. On average, the belfry was installed throne in the name of Cave God Mother.
Trinity Church does not the architectural masterpiece. It is quite simple, low, has only one dome and one tier, but fits well in the whole architectural complex is an integral part.
